After all the turmoil related to getting my friends air-conditioner replaced and then fixed, the County inspector comes by today , says “Yup”, and slaps his signature on the approval certificate!
No testing, no inspecting, nothing.
When the County inspected my homes AC , they rejected it twice; requiring the installer to also come back twice.
I have no luck…..
My great great grandfather’s death certificate. According to other records.. including his tombstone.. he was actually 6 years older than the document .. and apparently an impressive man, at least in the now-ghost coal town of Barklay PA. Here’s a tale about Mr. Roche (pronounced roke) from the towns history book:
ALMOST A LYNCHING
Once a lynching almost took place on Barklay
Mountain. A.B. and William Burchill of the
Burchill Brothers Monument Works in Towanda,
remember the incident well. They believe it was in
1874 and the man’s name was John Jenkins.
Jenkins was believed to have commited a brutal
assault upon a little girl and the mountain
residents were so aroused by the crime that they
demanded his life without waiting for the formality
of a trial. The mob had Jenkins and was rushing
him off to be hanged, when Redmond Roche, father of
Mrs William Ronan of Towanda and Mrs Hugh Hogan of
South Bend Ind, formerly of this place, a man of
strong personality and charactor, appeared on the
“In the name of God, stop!”, Mr Roche shouted.
“let the law take its course.” According to the
Buerchills, the crowd was almost immediately
subdued and Jenkins was bought to Towanda were(sic)
he was tried and acquited.
Later Jenkins was accused again of an attack upon a
girl and that time he was shot dead without further
Maybe a great APRS solution. I picked up a MFJ 8621 TNC radio and matching 1270C TNC on eBay for just $65… stuff that costs almost $400 for the newer models . Even though the rig was about 30 years old and the prior owner thought it was “deaf” it works great at 1200 baud and both units operate off cool wall wart power supplies vs my hot and bulky Astrons. So far.. pretty neat.
The Democrats are really reaching on this one:See the video link
For a politician facing two felony counts, Texas Governor Rick Perry certainly looked cheerful in his mug shot. On Tuesday, August 19, he appeared at an Austin courthouse to answer charges of abuse of power and coercion. After being booked and fingerprinted, he headed to a local burger joint for an ice cream cone and tweeted a photo.
My great grandfather’s death certificate showed up in the latest ancestry.com update. It did yield the date of birth which I did not know… and the alarming cause of death… Heat attack.
Every male in the family … back 4 generations, have now Ben confirmed to have died 1) before age 69 and 2) of heart failure.
Ugh… I’m 65 and on borrowed time apparently. Sigh.
